All You Need to Know About the New Ritzy Amazon Campus in Hyderabad

 

Hyderabad city has a special place on the map of India. The city is well known for its business-friendly nature, sustainable governments and skilled manpower. Hyderabad has become the first destination for many international companies in India. The latest addition to the city is an American multinational technology company and e-commerce giant, Amazon. It has opened its largest office campus in the city of Hyderabad.

 

From a long time, Amazon has been looking to expand its operations in India to battle with Walmart owned Flipkart in the e-commerce sector. For Amazon’s global operations, India is a major source of employment with 62,000 full-time staff and 155,000 contract employees. Considering its one-third of 62000 employees in India are based in this south Indian city, the company has opened this swanky campus.

Amazon Campus in Hyderabad

This new campus is Amazon’s first fully-owned office located outside the U.S. and they started working on the structure from March 30, 2016. To construct the building, more than 2,000 persons have spent 18 million man-hours on the site for 39 months. The two biggest companies of U.S., Microsoft and Amazon has their largest campuses in Hyderabad apart from the United States.

Another interesting thing about this building is, it has many unique facilities such as mothers’ room, interfaith prayer rooms and showers and also an ‘Inside Day 1 Skill’ self-help tool which helps employees to better understand amazon and even the new Hyderabad campus.

Highlights of this new Amazon Campus

  • This is Amazon’s single largest building in the world in terms of area which is spread over 9.2 acres.
  • Standing at a height of 282 feet, the Sky Tower has a capacity of 15000 people.
  • The campus contains over 2.5 times more steel than the Eiffel Tower, measured by weight.
  • This huge campus was built in 68-acres of build-up area. Its carpet area … equals 65 football stadiums.
  • There is a water recycling plant with a capacity of 8.5 lakh lit
  • There are  290 conference rooms, and 49 elevators, which move at the phenomenal speed of one floor per second.
  • The campus has more than 300 trees dotting its grounds that include 3 specimen trees aged over 200 years.
  • There is also a cafeteria for the staff which will be open 24 X 7.
  • The campus even has a helipad.
