Visiting Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is set to become more expensive as the state government has increased fees for entry tickets, joy rides, parking, and several other services.
According to the revised prices, adults will now pay ₹100 and children ₹50 for entry. Previously, the charges were ₹70 and ₹45 on weekdays and ₹80 and ₹55 on weekends. The new rates will be effective from March 1. The decision to revise the ticket prices was made during the 13th Governing Board Meeting of the Zoos and Parks Authority of Telangana.
Speaking about the changes, J. Vasantha, the curator of Nehru Zoological Park, stated that instead of having different rates for weekdays and weekends, the zoo will now have uniform pricing throughout the week. She also mentioned that entry fees are revised annually and that the proposal to increase prices was approved in last year’s board meeting before being officially implemented.
Apart from the entry fee, visitors will have to pay more to access various attractions within the zoo.
- The fish aquarium entry fee has been increased from ₹10 to ₹20 per person.
- The Safari Park ride charges have gone up from ₹120 to ₹150 for AC vehicles and from ₹80 to ₹100 for non-AC vehicles.
- The popular toy train ride will now cost ₹80 for adults and ₹40 for children, up from ₹45 and ₹25, respectively.
Photography and videography at the zoo have also become more expensive:
- Charges for a still camera have increased from ₹120 to ₹150.
- Charges for a video camera have surged from ₹600 to ₹2,500.
- Commercial movie camera shooting will now cost ₹10,000.
Additionally, battery-operated vehicle charges have been revised.
- New charges are ₹120 for adults and ₹70 for children.
- Previously, weekday rates were ₹95 and ₹60, while weekend rates were ₹110 and ₹70.
Parking charges have also been increased:
- Cycle parking: ₹10
- Bike parking: ₹30
- Auto parking: ₹80
- Car parking: ₹100
- Tempo parking: ₹150
With these price hikes, a trip to Nehru Zoological Park will now require a bigger budget for visitors.
